The reason why I don't like people swearing in public is because for one it's rude, and it makes you look like a disrespectful person even if you're not. One day a few years ago I was in a class room talking about when I went cliff jumping in the summer. I'll leave out the details of the story but lets just say I hit my foot on a rock and told my buddy all the swears I said. The awkward part was my teacher overheard only the swearing part of our conversation, and her image of the good innocent Noah changed forever. I got talked to and learned from that day that swearing doesn't make you look cool, you look like a fool and to this day I make sure only my buddies can hear the stories I'm telling. I'm not saying you can't swear because I do all the time, I'm just saying that there is a time and a place for everything but school is not one of them. That my friends is what really grinds my gears.
It's so interesting how words can be considered "bad" by themselves without being used to demean someone. Language is a funny thing.
ReplyDeleteGood point Noah, I also agree with hunter, Its not clear cut. We have guess what is all good, and then what is to far over the line.
ReplyDeleteSo true, there comes a point where I get sick of hearing it. Way back when students probably would have gotten the belt or a paddle or something haha. mr. ".,pause" could use some soap in his mouth lol
ReplyDeleteI try much hardest not to swear in school because I know is disrespectful and people don't want to hear it.
